“On behalf of the Management Committee of the North Wiltshire Youth & Minor Football League to extend our utmost thanks to you and your colleagues at Swindon Town Football Club for once again allowing us to use the fantastic facilities at The County Ground. We are so very grateful to be honoured with this wonderful privilege each season and are truly thankful not only for your support for grassroots football but also that of all the staff at the County Ground who help make our cup finals and presentation day, which are the two most prestige events in our calendar, a resounding success.”

Discover how science fact is more gripping than science fiction with a brand new series of science talks held by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) at Swindon Town’s County Ground.
STFC @ STFC second talk takes place on 18 February with a talk on Space weather, with Dr Chris Davis (STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) On Earth, we think sunny days are nice day. But violent eruptions from the sun can eject vast clouds into space. Made up from more than 1000 million tonnes of particles and travelling at up to 1000 km per second, when one of these clouds hits the Earth’s atmosphere it can impact significantly on satellites, power grids and radio communication.
Dr Davis will demonstrate how missions like the NASA STEREO spacecraft are enabling us to track and predict Space Weather and how significant this is to our daily lives in a world in which we rely heavily on spacecraft and satellites, and what this might mean for mankind’s prospects of colonising other planets.
With these questions in mind, come along and meet these leading scientists face to face and be intrigued.
